MLB GROUP of companies was established by Late Manna Lal Bhartia (1900-1986), a pioneer and visionary who established his name by his generous contribution to the society and business. He was the Founder President (1949 & 1950) of Raniganj Chamber of Commerce (RCC). He has been the president of many other organizations such as Raniganj Municipality and schools like, Marwari Sanatan Vidyala and Basanti Devi Goenka Vidya Mandir ( the first Hindi Medium Girls School ). He donated Land to Trusts for building of hospitals, schools & colleges like T.D.B. College and Gyan Bharati School Raniganj (still managed by the Bhartia Family along with other members of the Gyan Bharati Trust) to promote health and education. He has been a leading philanthropist of his time.

In the year 1950 MLB GROUP registered M/s. Asoka Mills & Engineering Works (AMEW) as its flagship company, dealing with automobile workshop, the only one of its kind in the entire region at that time. In 1950’s AMEW took the dealership of Caltex India Ltd. (now Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.) and was amongst the first few fuel stations which opened in West Bengal.

In 1960’s MLB GROUP diversified and expanded its platform by entering into Glass Manufacturing in the name M/s. ASOKA GLASS INDUSTRIES (AGI) catering to Distilleries in domestic market to reputed companies like CAREW & CO., PHIPSONS & CO. (P) LTD. and KARAMCHAND THAPAR (KCT GROUP) and Distilleries of Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal.

The logistic arm for the group was setup in 1981 in the name of M/s. ASOKA ROAD TRASNPORT catering to private sector companies such as M/s The Bengal Paper Mill Co. Ltd. and semi government and government companies such as M/s. EASTERN COALFIELD LIMITED (ECL). The company has executed several excavation and mining operations.

In 2007, we further diversified in the steel sector and M/s. SHREEVARDHANA METALLIKS PVT. LTD. was established at Durgapur , West Bengal, a unit manufacturing Ferro Alloys.

In its Endeavour to venture into much diversified areas, we, in 2012 established a plant for manufacture of packaged drinking water at Siliguri,West Bengal in collaboration with M/s EUREKA FORBES LTD., a SHARPOONJI PALOONJI GROUP COMPANY, a leading manufacturing of water purifiers in India.

M/s. ASOKA PRIMEX PVT. LTD. has been setup in 2016, as an international trading company entering into export industry to reach out to the world.

Our group has now made its global presence by entering into the export/import industry with M/s. ASOKA PRIMEX PVT.LTD.
